We are delighted to announce the promotion of four new partners, further solidifying our position as a legal leader in Ireland. The appointments underscore the firm's strategic growth across pivotal sectors including Technology, Energy, Built Environment, Life Sciences and Healthcare, reflecting our steadfast commitment to legal excellence in the Irish market.

The firm now employs over 600 staff in Ireland, the UK and the US, dedicated to delivering bespoke, innovative client solutions. These promotions further strengthen our capacity to advise on emerging legal trends, both domestically and internationally.

Commenting on the appointments, our Managing Partner Will Carmody said: “I am delighted to welcome this talented group of lawyers to the partnership. Their dedication, accomplishments, and commitment to excellence align with our ongoing mission to provide exceptional service to our clients. The current legal environment is marked by increasing levels of national and European regulation which present significant challenges for many businesses. Our ongoing investment in the next generation of lawyers means we can continue to support clients in effectively navigating this constantly evolving regulatory landscape.”

The newly promoted partners are:

Angela Freeman

Angela is a Corporate Partner specialising in the Technology and Life Sciences sectors. She has deep expertise in guiding clients through complex domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Angela also helps companies secure venture capital, execute private equity transactions, and implement strategic reorganisations to enhance their market position and accelerate growth.

She is a graduate of University College Dublin and a member of the Law Societies of Ireland, England and Wales.

Angela commented: “Working with fast-growth companies, particularly in the technology and life sciences sectors, is hugely rewarding. Advising clients at every stage from investment to exit means I can find the best legal solution for clients to meet their business needs, while also ensuring that they are protected for future growth. As a new Corporate Partner, I look forward to further contributing to the success of our market-leading team.”

Fiona McNulty

Fiona is a Partner in the firm’s Health & Prosecutions team. With substantial experience advocating for healthcare clients, Fiona delivers effective, tailored legal strategies that protect clients' interests. Her expertise also extends to helping large corporate firms navigate the complexities of criminal and investigations legislation as it may sometimes apply to their businesses.

Fiona is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin. She sits on the Council of the Law Society of Ireland, on the board of the Irish Family Planning Association, and is a long-standing committee member of the Irish Women Lawyer’s Association.

Fiona said: “My work covers two very different client types but with similar needs. I work closely with corporate clients when they receive warrants, witness summons or other similar legal requests. These can be very daunting, especially if they are not familiar with criminal law procedures, so my role is to help clients manage them in an efficient, compliant manner. I also advise clients in the healthcare sector to avoid disputes where possible, but also to prepare and present cases in court when needed.”

Kim Bowen

Kim is a Partner in our Employment Law & Benefits team, specialising in Business Immigration. Kim advises SMEs and large multinational corporations on employing non-EEA nationals in Ireland, assisting them in obtaining a wide range of employment authorisations. Her diverse practice spans all sectors, with a particular focus on Technology, Healthcare and Life Sciences.

Kim is a graduate of University College Dublin. She is a member of the Law Society of Ireland, along with the American Immigration Lawyer Association, the WERC Immigration Work Group and the Irish Immigration Lawyers Association.

Kim commented: “With Ireland at almost full employment, helping companies recruit talent from abroad has never been more important. I work closely with clients to ensure they can efficiently onboard new talent and seamlessly navigate the Irish business immigration landscape. Over the years I have advised a large portfolio of clients ranging from individuals, small scale businesses and some of the largest global companies in the tech and pharmaceutical sectors, so I understand the common issues and how they can be best managed.”

Stephen Cowhey

Stephen is a Partner in the firm’s Energy and Built Environment teams. He helps clients through the entire project lifecycle, from development and financing to operation and sale. Having worked on some of the largest renewable financing transactions in Ireland, he has significant expertise in advising both project developers and funders.

Stephen is a graduate of the University of Limerick. His professional memberships include the Law Society of Ireland, Wind Energy Ireland and the Irish Solar Energy Association.

Stephen added: Sustainability is critically important, so I am proud to work with clients to help Ireland meet our energy targets. Advising on the property elements of key energy projects such as wind, solar and storage is a core area of my practice. Ensuring that property compliance is built in at the start means that projects are future-proofed for investment and sale. I am also actively helping clients on emerging energy technology projects such as the development of hydrogen-ready power plants.”
