We are fortunate to have one of the most important corporate art collections of Irish and International contemporary art in Dublin. Included in the collection is “Recurrence” by Elva Mulchrone. Our Aviation partner, Christine O’Donovan, tells us why she has chosen this piece:
“'Recurrence' is a recent addition to MHC art collection. It was acquired at the firm’s 2018 Christmas Art Exhibition of Irish Art. My impression of Elva’s work could be described as digital landscapes or lunarscapes, or as circuit board cloud-based abstract paintings. We were very fortunate that she exhibited a number of her recent pieces at our exhibition. Each individual artwork consisted of a mass of colour and data colliding on the canvass giving a vibrancy and energy to her work which is very highly original and contemporary."
“'Recurrence' is my favourite because of its colour and vibrancy and contemporary feel. It consists of painstaking layers built up from the bare canvass and the vital ingredients of patience, time and creativity. The work comprises of silkscreen, oil, acrylic and text. The patterns emerge like sci-fi images through the layers and shine through like astrological or underwater galaxies in colours and text that are not limited or constrained by pre-conceptions of space or environment."
