On Thursday 26 May, we hosted a joint seminar with Norton Rose Fulbright, Milan, on the diverse currents of insurance regulation in Ireland and Italy.
Our panel of experts discussed the current hot topics in insurance regulation in both Italy and Ireland. There was a particular focus on issues of interest to Irish-headquartered insurers and reinsurers with substantial business activities in Italy.
Among
the topics covered were product governance (for life and non-life products)
and proposals for changes to the Italian rules on distribution of unit-linked
life policies. We also discussed the Central Bank of Ireland’s approach to
prudential supervision of cross-border insurers and changes to the competitive
landscape in both jurisdictions driven by digital transformations.
