Environment About Us
Our firm thrives when the environment in which we operate is healthy. Embracing sustainability is essential for our people, our community, and our planet.
We are dedicated to reducing energy and water consumption. We are focused on minimising waste and promoting greener modes of transport. We foster a culture of sustainability and raise awareness of our environmental impact.
We have implemented an Environmental Management System which recently re-certified the ISO 14001 certification from the National Standards Authority of Ireland.
We were 2024 finalists in the categories for 'Sustainability Team of the Year' and 'Green Financial & Professional Services' at the Green Awards.

Key Initiatives
Carbon Footprint
- We are monitoring our carbon footprint using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. We have a commitment to achieve net zero by 2050 at the latest and have engaged carbon consultants to help us achieve this goal. Our carbon footprint assessments for 2021 and 2022 show significant reduction in emissions against our GHG emissions in our benchmark year of 2019.
Energy Efficiency
- We have reduced the number of energy suppliers from four down to one supplier which commits to providing power from renewable sources.
- Our last premises’ fit-out was particularly energy efficient with LED lighting and a heat recovery mechanism.
- All lighting is zoned, and sensor led.
- All PC’s have power management systems.
- We encourage greater use of travel by foot, bicycle, and public transport. We have taken out car parking spaces and replaced them with bicycle cages.
Minimising Waste and Consumption
- Reduced water consumption.
- Since June 2021, nine departments have completed their paperless projects with 711,050 pages scanned and 54,940 items scanned. The Records Project is a 5-year project which completed at the end of 2023. We achieved a 92% reduction in the creation of paper files in that time and reduced our use by 89%, saving 1.75 tonnes of waste.
- Sustainable procurement: we switched to environmentally friendly stationery - from plastic rulers and pens to wooden rulers and pens made of 74% recycled material. We have engaged Sodexo, an award-winning sustainable catering provider that makes our meals in-house. One of the key factors in choosing Sodexo was their commitment to sustainable business practices as one of the founding members of Origin Green and The Better Tomorrow Plan 2025. Sodexo source more than 70% of their produce used in our workplace from Ireland.
- Staff are provided with double screens which reduces printing. Shredding and recycling units are available on every floor. We make every effort to shred and recycle all paper documents no longer required on the premises, which protects both the environment and client confidentiality.
- Previously, binders used in MHC were dismantled and taken away by a waste provider. Under our new process, our current supplier is now responsible for the collection and recycling of binders.
- Minimising waste through a series of initiatives which includes the provision of compost bins on every floor.
- Our café promotes reusable delph and crockery, and any disposable crockery or cutlery is fully compostable.
- We have eliminated plastic giveaways at client and staff events.
Staff Initiatives
- Our Green Month flagship initiative is held early each year and brings pan-firm engagement in environmentally sustainable practices. There is a range of practical initiatives and a programme of educational talks, activities, and workshops. Examples include No Car Day, VegFest and Plant Something Day. The initiative has led to tangible long-lasting results. For example, following the first Green Month our re-cycling of dry mixed goods increased by 85%.
- Every new staff member receives an environmental induction.
